My Cleaning lady's choice
I don't know much or expect to learn much from vacuum, but I figured I'd pass my recent experience on...my cleaning lady had asked me to buy a canister vacuum so that she wouldn't have to lug hers up and down the stairs when she cleaned my place. She had told me to buy the Electrolux Oxygen, which in her opinion was great. After being turned off by the price and reading some of the reviews on-line for several hours, I decided to buy the Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition. I told the cleaning lady that I didn't get vacuum she wanted, but that I saved 0 and that I hoped that it worked out. In a delightful twist, after getting to use the new vacuum, she just called me to tell me she loves the vacuum and if I could order her one of these vacuums. That's worth 5 stars in my opinion.

good suction but difficult to move around
Always had Hoover and needed a replacement for an older model cannister. This looked great in the box. But when I tried using it, found it very difficult to maneuver around. The cannister does not roll over the cord. So, if it gets stuck you have to literally pick it up. Otherwise, great suction. Would also have like to have all parts stored in the body, but the design did not allow it.

powerful and no-nonsense
This Hoover is a very good appliance. I will never again use a bagless vacuum cleaner! Very clean, very solid HEPA filtration. The only problem would be in that we need an attachment that can clean under tight places (under beds, under sofas). Although this unit comes with two attachments (onboard) and two attachments separate, none are really useful for carpeting under this type of furniture. Still, I would highly recommend this vacuum over almost every other we have tried over the years. Sleek, modern design; easy to maneuver; great features (auto cord rewind, two power settings). The components appear well-made and durable (no cheap plastics). Also, the service was excellent! Delivery within a couple of days standard cost (via UPS). I especially appreciate having easy access to Hoover's customer service if we need it. Highly recommend the Hoover Platinum series overall.

Do NOT buy!!! Beware!!!
I purchased this vacuum cleaner a couple of months ago. When I first started using it, it worked great. The vacuum was very powerful and the suction was great. It cleaned carpets and bare floors with ease. After using it twice, the light came on indicating that the bag was full. Although the bag was not completely full, I changed it. The third time I went to use the vacuum, I noticed that I was having great difficulty picking up dirt. I then realized that there was absolutely NO suction coming out of the hose. I checked to see if anything was clogged but it wasn't. Then all of a sudden, the suction resumed and the vacuum worked again. The next time I vacuumed, I had the same problem, no suction and no clogs. The light indicating the bag needed to be changed stayed on all the time even when the bag was new. I called Hoover's customer support and they told me that sometimes there is a malfunction with the light and that it shouldn't affect the vacuum's performance. I used the vacuum a few more times and constantly had no suction and had to check the hose to see if something was stuck. There was never a clog so I don't understand why the vacuum just stopped working. BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT buy this vacuum. I returned the vacuum for a full refund and will NEVER buy a Hoover vacuum again.

Excellent Vacuum Cleaner
We like it. Sleek, easy to use, works like a vacuum cleaner is supposed to work.

Great cleaning,

The f5914 900 hoover really cleans carpets well. On my worst carpet area, the cleaner did as well as a commercial carpet cleaner. I recommend the following to make it a successful cleaning:
1) I supplement the hot water with some boiling water to really get the temperature up. By the time the water hits the spray nozzle, it has really cooled off so make it hotter. Bissell uses a heater, but it can’t be that powerful without reducing motor power. Best to supplement.
2) Patience. Go slow and go over really bad areas. You will HAVE to pretreat and hand wash heavy stains, but so do the pros. Don’t expect a diamond out of coal. You still have to do the work.
3) Clean often. I have one carpet that I waited way too long and it just won’t come clean. The pros can’t and I can’t. BIG lesson learned there.

Have fun with this f5914-900 steamvac. I can’t believe how much dirt there was in my “clean” areas, so it will be great to have this around to clean when I desire to. I saved more than the price of the cleaner this weekend.

Consumer Best Buy,

Even though Consumer Best Buy magazine has never reviewed carpet steam cleaners (not sure why), this hoover steam is sure to get a best buy approval. I just cleaned our first room (12X14) and it did an excellent job taking the dirt out. The F5914 is simple to use and I hope it provides many years of continued service. Even though everything is plastic I would say it does what it says it will do as long as you follow the simple directions.

An excellent quality steamVac,

As Always Hoover makes quality steamVacs. This f5914 model is no exception. Very Sturdy. Heavy will hold up for a long time. We used to have an older model very similar to this which lasted about 10 years. That one finally broke down and purchased this one. The accessories are a little better with the clean surge. It does a nice job on Upholstery. This model can get expensive and is well worth it but as always amazon’s price made the purchase that much better. In my opinion this is top of the line in steam vacs.

Great hoover steamvac! Wow!,

This thing is great. Easy to put together. Super easy to use. I was surprised that I only cleaned a portion of the room and had to refill the tank, but otherwise it was truly amazing. I have 2 dogs, and our off-white carpet was costing me a fortune to have professionally cleaned, so I bought this thing and it paid for itself in ONE using. The carpet looked as good as when the dude came and did my carpets. I shopped on line for extra cleaning solution, so I’ll always have enough at a reasonable price.

This an excellent hoover upright vacuum.
This is a very good vacuum…It is identical to U5262-90.Despite being very powerful,It shares the same problems of 900..The unit needs to be cleaned,after each use.!!!A real pain!!Further when you empty the dust cup,i put a plastic bag over it,and take it outside of my home so i dont spread dust,inside it…I use a long narrow brush to clean the hepa filter…This takes about 10 minutes or less…So as with the 910.The suction is fantastic..It picks up cat hair quite well…If you willing to put up with the filter cleaning,and spending 20 minutes to vacuum,and 10 minutes,to clean it,its a good deal…The unit is a real pain,but great for cleaning!!!This is a tough call…I conditionally recommend the 910.

Hoover Upright,

This vacuum does an excellent job at cleaning carpets at all carpet heights. The headlight on the front really helps in the dark corners. This vacuum also does an excellent job on my bare floors. The hose attachment has really good suction which I am totally impressed with. The only feature I do not like about the vacuum is cleaning the filter. I suppose one could chose not to clean it but then you would have to buy a new filter more often. All-in-all this vacuum was an excellent buy.

Good hoover bagged upright,

We have enjoyed this purchase. Great performance at a great price. Also, others have commented on the loud noise it makes; however, I don’t hear a problem at all. It sounds like a normal vacuum to me. We bought this vacuum to replace a bagless Bissell model, which we absolutely hated. The Bissell got clogged constantly. It was annoying having to constantly clean out the whole interior of the vacuum before each use. We are SOOOO happy to have a good ‘ol bagged Hoover again. I would definitely recommend this vacuum.

Get bang for your buck!
I am skeptical of every new, improved, etc. thing that hits the market guaranteeing excellent results. I always assume that it’s a product that will work well for the first few times, but like everything else - overtime it will depreciate in quality. I do not believe that is the case with this bissell bagless vacuum. It does a fabulous job of picking up cat hair, litter messes, dog hair, etc. without even sounding like it’s working hard. The suction is unbelieveable! It’s strong enough to pull our floor up -so we had to set it on the highest setting to avoid that. It still picked up kiddie dinner messes, etc. without any hassles. It’s also quiet enough to talk over. I am a phone-aholic and usually can’t carry on a conversation when vacuuming because I can’t hear the caller. Not so with this vacuum. It’s not really quiet, but it’s quiet enough for me to chat away with a friend without them or I having to say “what? huh? I Can’t hear you!” The vacuum is heavy, but I don’t see that as a downfall. I see it as an asset. With it’s weight, it really pushes down into the carpet and picks up much more than our Eureka and Kenmore does. It even outdid my friend’s Dyson vacuum for pets. The stair attachment is fabulous, too! No more lugging a stupid vacuum along with me as I try to do each one of our steps. Just carry it down once to vacuum the stairs, then back up when you are done. Think of it as a quick exercise. Emptying it is a breeze, too. There is no dust/dirt mess that I have found. All in all, this is definitely a vacuum that stands up to its claims. I would recommend it for fellow pet lovers like us to get rid of all that fluff and fur that somehow finds its way into furniture and carpets. With four allergy sufferers in our home, it’s essential that we pick up enough dust, pet dander, fur, etc. to make a difference. It has proven to be a good investment for us and I hope it will be the same for your family.

Powerful, reliable, big and heavy,

the suction is powerful and it doesnt lose much suction provided you clean the canister, entry points and various filters regularly (i have done this once in the nine months that i’ve had it, and not because it was losing suction, so doing this once a year would be sufficient i would think) (i vacuum once a week every week).

the brushes are powerful–the main unit does a great job on carpets (with an adjustable nap setting) and the turbo brush does an excellent job on couches, etc (we have two cats and a couch made of a fabric that loves to trap cat hair and this handheld unit gets all of it out) (again, i have cleaned the turbo brush once and not because it was performing poorly). you have to use the handheld to clean small carpets (like a bathroom mat) because the regular brushes are powerful enough to suck them up or pull up an edge and get caught in the unit.

the unit is unfortunately heavy, but good vacuums tend to be. it is also pretty bulky and difficult to manuever except in a straight line, which is the main con for me because my apartment has a lot of weird corners that this vacuum just can’t get into, so i end up using the narrow wand tool a lot which is fine because we have wood floors with wide gaps between them that a lot of things get stuck in and the wand easily gets it all out (again, the suction is great) (i was able to get a large kitchen knife that fell behind the stove by using the narrow wand to suction the flat side of the blade).

the only problem i have encountered with this vacuum is that the handle assembly can sometimes dislodge itself if you’re jerking the vacuum around or if you hit something just right. if this happens, the unit will not turn on. when it first happened (after six months), i didnt know what happened and thought the vacuum was a dud, but it miraculously came back on. it happened the second time and i found the cause on a message board, put the handle back in place and it worked fine. the assembly does not lock, so this problem may reoccur. but, again, its happened twice in nine months and only after vigorous use.

the canister holds everything it takes in (nothing spits back out, no plumes of dust) and holds quite a lot. i empty it after every use, but could use it 3 or 4 times before i really had to. the canister’s opening is quite narrow though and it should be brought outside to empty, as you will either have to shake it around quite a bit or use your hands to get everything out (remember, i have two cats so the hair complicates matters–if most of what you are vacuuming is dirt and debris, it should empty fine).

overall, it does and continues to do a good job of doing what i want it to do, which is getting the house clean. it has its pitfalls, but it is still one of the better vacuums i have owned, if not the best.
